Daka ReFood makes it possible to recycle the organic material
The staff at McDonalds place the food waste in large buckets earmarked for the purpose. The sorting is less detailed at first, but after the waste has been picked up by Daka ReFood, the food waste is further sorted.
McDonalds describes that in 2021 the food waste provided energy, which corresponded to approx. 25,300 days of heat in a typical Danish household, food for 1,040,000 kg. carrots and reduction of 202,000 kg of CO2.
McDonald’s used French fries oil is used to make biodiesel. In 2021, the oil gave approx. 614,000 liters of biodiesel.
