PUMA shoes now contain a fair amount of green energy - the ambitions are high

PUMA has officially joined the Science Based targets initiative. SBTi maps which companies intend to emit such low emissions that they can meet the climate measures from the Paris Agreement.
On PUMA’s website, they show how far they are with “PUMA entities” and “PUMA core suppliers” in relation to renewable electricity.

Highlights of the Green Energy Progress

PUMA’s green energy

PUMA’s administration has managed to be energy-neutral in terms of electricity. For the first time, they have also reported how far their suppliers have come. They are now at 11% green power compared to the supply part. There is still a long way to go to 100/100, but it is positive that the production of PUMA shoes is now with green energy. The footwork of reporting for 2022 is a success for society, as more people can follow suit.

In 2018, PUMA SE co-founded the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, an industry-wide coalition that aims to align the fashion industry’s emissions with the targets included in the Paris Agreement.

In 2019, PUMA agreed and published its Science-Based Emissions Target (SBT) with the SBT Coalition and joined the Fashion Pact, which also includes a climate action commitment.

PUMA has committed to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and 100% renewable electricity as part of its Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action commitment.

PUMA updated their science-based targets developed in 2022 and formally submitted to the Science Based Target@ABCClimateLibrary coalition in January 2023.
